HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITY AT CHÂTEAU BEAUMONT
Safety and security are our primary concerns. We take every possible step to ensure the safety and security of our visitors. Château Beaumont has operated school trips to France successfully since 1996 and we have an excellent record of which we are proud.
We are registered in France with both the Prefecture de Laval (police, fire brigade and technical authorities) and the Departement de la Jeunesse et Sports (social welfare of young people) who maintain very high European standards. The centre is regularly inspected by the local authorities to ensure its suitability for groups of young people. We work closely with them to ensure that these standards are met.
We are registered with BAHA (British Activity Holiday Association) and the AAIAC (Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee) and have the LOtC (Learning Outside the Classroom) Quality Badge for which our centre was rigorously inspected to ensure that we meet the high standards set by BAHA and by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.
Our site is peaceful and secure. We ensure that your school group is safe and secure at all times during your stay at Château Beaumont:
• all accommodation blocks’ external doors are protected from outside entry by keypads or otherwise can only be opened from the inside;
• windows can only be opened from the inside, and only for ventilation;
• all our staff wear a uniform;
• a safety talk and fire drill are conducted soon after your arrival.
OUR STAFF
Château staff are trained to take responsibility for the safety of the children in their care and to make their stay at the centre both fun and educational.
All our staff are selected for their enthusiasm and experience/aptitude to work with children. Many return year after year giving us an unrivalled staff retention rate. CRB checks are carried out on all our members of staff.
Information on staff qualifications regarding specific activities can be found within the [downloads] section of this site.
All our activity staff are trained to National Governing Body (NGB) standards for activities where an NGB is applicable; all undergo our comprehensive in-house training. The centre is regularly inspected by the local authorities to ensure its suitability for groups of young people. All the centre’s equipment is regularly checked prior to each use and conforms to all required safety standards.
Our kitchen staff hold relevant qualifications and undergo our in-house kitchen-familiarisation training. HACCP and COSHH regulations regarding food hygiene, handling, storage, preparation and service are adhered to.
Risk assessments are conducted regularly on all aspects of the centre’s operations and are available from [downloads]
FIRST AID
The first aid room will be made available to your appointed first aider on arrival at the Château. Should any member of your party need the services of a doctor or hospital, this is readily available and Château staff will be on hand to help. Amongst our staff there are several First Aiders who can assist with any queries you may have.
All staff are trained in our established Accident and Incident procedures.
